Last weekend Party of 5 was invited to attend Field Station Dinosaurs for a media day. We had no expectations because it is very deceiving when you pull up. You literally can see nothing from the parking lot or even when you walk up and pay. I have to say I liked that it leaves your imagination to run wild.
We had one 8 year old boy two little girls 6 and 4 years old, and a 9 month old baby. I would assume that the little boy would be the one to enjoy it the most, but I was wrong!
As soon as we entered they have a jungle like path that you walk. (It is all outside so weather does play a role when planning your trip.) We turned one corner and we could hear a light growl. The kids were a little apprehensive, but once they saw the massive life size dino they were amazed. As were us adults. There are probably 30 different displays like this threw out the park. All give facts about the dinosaurs too. Each one moves and makes noises. So amazing to get a glimpse of what it is like to quite literally walk with the dinosaurs.
They also have a bunch of other activities throughout. We did not get to go to the Dino 3-D movie because of a time issue on our part. However we did participate in everything else. They had a few shows about dinosaurs and fun things for the kids. The one show we caught was about T-Rex. So adorable and smart to have a smaller version come out and dance around and act like a dog, so that the kids were not afraid of him. Cute show and very informative.
Another fun part was a separate area for the kids to go and try their hands at being archaeologists. It is a huge sand pit with real fossils in it and giant dinosaur skeletons slightly exposed. The kids would have stayed in there forever! They loved digging. They provide hammers, shovels, picks, and even magnifying glasses. I personally liked this area because there was only one way in and out, and there was seating in the shade where the adults can relax and cool down for a bit.
The absolute best part for us adults was The Commanders Tent. Set a top the highest hill a huge tent all by itself. It is a little oasis in the park. Us adults sat and relaxed enjoying the scenery and beautiful breeze coming through. The kids colored, read books, and then…… they got an awesome surprise! A dino handler came in with a baby dinosaur for the kids to meet. The kids got to pet and feed baby Haddie the Hadisaurus. So life like and adorable. There are some other fun things at Field Station Dinosaur. I strongly recommend this place for families of all ages. So much fun and something different to do. If you plan to visit, you will not regret it!
Party of 5 is super excited to be able to give away a Family 4 pack of tickets to Field Station Dinosaurs!
