Have you heard of Wikki Stix? I use them in my classroom all the time but had no idea there were so many options for me to use them at home!
What are Wikki Stix you ask? Well..... they are pieces of yarn that are covered in microcrystalline wax (same wax used to make bubble gum or lipstick) that stick to almost any smooth surface. If you make a mistake or want to start over just peel them up and go again! Fantastic for self esteem! Wikki Stix do not break or tear apart but they can be cut easily with scissors.
Party of 5 was sent the Basic Shapes Kit .
Inside the kit there are 10 individual shape cards to practice making basic shapes in a dot to dot format, 72 Wikki Stix, 2 practice boards, a fold out sheet sheet to show how shapes can be combined to make things, and my favorite are the cards that show how to use the basic shapes to make real life things. Without using a bunch of teacher mumbo jumbo just know that this is a really important skill for your child to know!
I also love that the level of creativity with Wikki Stix can range from toddler to adult! Toddlers can use them to learn letters, numbers, and shapes whereas big kids can make big projects!
